Afternoon at the Prague Zoo

If you haven't heard, Prague has one incredible zoo. In fact, Zoo Praha was rated by Forbes magazine as the 7th Best Zoo in the World. It's no wonder Czechs like to keep it secret.

Every corner and pathway of the Prague zoo leads to extensive habitats containing animals that cannot be found in most zoos. The zoo aims to protect the local ecological system and promote the preservation of a lot of animal species, such as polar bears, a family of tigers and cheetahs to name but a few.

The zoo is most famous for its Gorilla House, especially the new baby gorilla born last year. Other must-sees include an African savannah (complete with giraffes, elephants, rhinos and gazelle), a big cat center, and a tropical garden with an orangutan island.

Each enclosure is perfectly suited to the animal it houses, and space is not an issue as in many smaller zoos across Europe.
