Municipal Library sparks literary campaign in Prague

The Municipal Library in Prague is known for its artistic style. For a good example, consider the famous book tunnel in their main building lobby (pictured below).

This autumn, the Municipal Library will take it up a notch with a new campaign "Prague - City of Literature." Literature will enter Prague streets to showcase Prague's important literary history and active literary present.

How crazy will it get? According to the spokesman, literature quotes will actually speak to people from talking trees and trash cans. In addition, there will be literary advertisements and public book sharing across the city. In Prague's 10th district, people will find excerpts from the works of world-famous writer Karel Capek (1890-1938).

The City Hall wants to promote Prague's candidacy for the UNESCO title Creative City of Literature with the project. Its past winners include Edinburgh, Dublin, Melbourne and Iowa City.
