Recent event: Prague Football Match!

--

altFootball is one of the most popular sports in the Czech Republic. In fact, Prague has six local football teams, each with its own impressive fan base. Without doubt, the two that rise above the rest are Sparta and Slavia, the historic powerhouses of Czech football. For a recent UPCES event, we headed to GENERALI arena to watch Sparta take on the Bohemian team FK Mlada Boleslav.

AC Sparta Praha is the most successful club in the Czech Republic and one of the most successful in Central Europe. The club dates back to 1893. Since then, Sparta, usually along with Slavia, has been a base for the Czech national team. In fact, Sparta players contributed to the biggest achievements in the country's football history. World famous Czech players like Pavel Nedvěd, Tomas Rosicky and Petr Čech have all played for the club.

FK Mladá Boleslav is a Czech football club based in the nearby city of Mladá Boleslav, famous as the headquarters for the auto company Škoda. The club currently plays in the Gambrinus liga.

UPCES went to see these rivals play each other in GENERALI Arena on Sunday, May 12th. The high-intensity match turned into a shut out, with Sparta triumphing 4-0 over Mlada Boleslav.
