Marijke Kremin, Class of Spring 2011

"During my semester at UPCES I became fascinated with authoritarian regimes, democratic transitions, and the way in which states and people understood their human rights, so I began a minor in Peace & Social Justice. I suppose that while I always had the travel bug, studying in Prague really reinforced my desire to live and work abroad, so I actively sought out ways to examine new democratic regimes and the rights and policies under them, which ultimately lead me to South Africa. Long story short, that experience had a huge impact on me, and I'm now doing a Master's in Human Rights Studies at Columbia University in New York."
