Litoměřice is the trip that UPCES students are always most surprised by. It is the most authentically local place we take our students, which includes a visit to a historic chateau, lunch at a local restaurant, a tour of a wine cellar and a private tour with a local expat guide, Tony. We love seeing Tony every semester and had a chat with him so you can get to know him before you go.
Last week, UPCES students and staff had a fantastic lunch together, with a menu jam-packed with traditional Czech foods. Many of our favorites were on the menu and it was so much fun to watch students discover their own favorites. As the weather continues to be cold and rainy, it can be so comforting to pop into a Czech restaurant for a steaming bowl of gulaš and dumplings. Since our staff have all been in Prague for a while, we all have our favorites. Some of them, you tried last week-- others, you'll have to venture out and discover yourself!
So you decided to spend your weekend in Prague! Amazing! Many „Praguesters“ love their weekend mornings and can enjoy them in all kinds of ways. For example, every Saturday there is a huge farmers' market down by the Vltava river called Náplavka. Over the years this became a great hangout for both locals and toursits. No matter which group you fit in, the rule usually is: go get some fresh veggies, milk, cheese, meat or even flowers and continue to meet your friends for a brunch to chit-chat throughout early afternoon hours.
"But where do I go for these brunches?" you might ask. Fear no more because I am here to help and give you some tips (my personal favorites but shh)!

One of the best things about living in Prague is the accessibility of the arts. Concert tickets are affordable (especially for students) and most exhibition and museum visits will cost under 150czk. A cold and rainy afternoon is well-spent exploring the city’s massive collections spread throughout several museums. The collection from the National Gallery is by far the largest and is spread throughout several buildings, making the quest to see each one a multi-day affair.
