At UPCES, we want to ensure that your study abroad experience is unparalleled. When studying abroad with UPCES, you'll take classes in the heart of the city, join us on excursions around the Czech Republic and abroad, and experience Prague as the locals do!
UPCES is designed to immerse students in the social and cultural environment of the Czech Republic. Students have innumerable outlets for immersion while studying abroad with UPCES.
- Czech and other European students from Charles University enroll in UPCES courses and seminars.
- UPCES organizes frequent cultural activities for students, each of which offers an introduction to a unique side of Czech culture. These activities are included in UPCES tuition.
- UPCES students live as locals do, in apartments located throughout the city center.
- Upon arrival in Prague, UPCES students have the opportunity to be matched with Czech students to help them navigate the city and culture.
- UPCES organizes social gatherings with Czech and Erasmus students to places such as museums, festivals, concerts, quiz nights, and more.
- UPCES trips always include Czech and other European students.
The UPCES Experience

Why UPCES?
UPCES is the undergraduate study abroad program of Charles University and CERGE-EI in Prague, Czech Republic.
With UPCES, students learn new subjects, study a foreign language, gain wider perspectives, and experience cultural immersion—while living in an incredible European city.
The UPCES curriculum infuses topics relevant to Central Europe into a wide variety of liberal arts courses, all taught by a faculty of distinguished scholars, government figures, and industry specialists.
UPCES classes meet in the Schebek Palace, a historic building in the center of Prague. Courses bring together European and American students in a small and interactive classroom setting.
Outside the classroom, UPCES students explore the cultures of Central Europe firsthand. Program trips, excursions, and immersion activities offer opportunities to discover new places, people, and perspectives.
Crucially, UPCES offers a personalized approach to study abroad. Students receive all the resources essential to a rewarding semester of immersion and discovery.
