Student Resources

UPCES is located in the Schebek Palace in the historic center of Prague. Our building is the exclusive headquarters of CERGE-EI and UPCES.

The history of our building dates to the time of King Charles IV (1316-1378), who founded Charles University in 1348. Since then, the building has served as a palace and as the headquarters for the State Bank of Czechoslovakia. Today, its splendid classrooms, palatial hallways, and modern study centers offer our students an unmatched learning environment.

Our building is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The corridors and lounges of the building are alive with activity late into the evening and on weekends.

UPCES Classrooms

UPCES students study in some of the finest classrooms in Prague. Each room is equipped with state-of-the-art electronics for lecture presentations and group discussions. The seating arrangement is limited to allow for discussion and dialogue between students and professors.

The CERGE-EI Library

Our library contains an extensive and up-to-date collection, with about 40,000 monographs, as well as subscriptions to about 300 periodicals and access to 600 e-journals. The library is equipped with the latest computer technology, offers access to widely used databases and statistical materials, and is an official depository library of World Bank and UNCTAD documents.

UPCES Study Center

The UPCES Study Center is conveniently located on the 4th floor of the CERGE-EI building, directly adjacent to the UPCES offices. The area offers UPCES students an ideal location for studying, preparing course material, and relaxing between classes.
