Pavel Soukup, Ph.D.
Pavel Soukup (born in 1976 in Prague) studied history in Prague, Bern, and Constance. In 2007, he obtained his Ph.D. from the Faculty of Philosophy of Charles University for a thesis on reform preaching in late medieval Bohemia (published in 2011). Since 2002, he has been working at the Centre for Medieval Studies in Prague. His research interests include holy war in the Middle Ages and medieval religious literature. He has been involved in research projects on later crusades, heresy and cultural history of the Late Middle Ages. He has presented papers at international conferences in Europe and the USA and has published extensively on medieval history. Since 2008 he has been teaching the “Prague as a Living History” course in the UPCES program at CERGE-EI.
