Lucia Stefankova graduated with MA degree in Cultural Studies and Marketing Communication from Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia in 2001.  As part of her Master’s studies she spent a year in New York at NYU focusing on popular and urban culture. After completing her MA studies, she was awarded a post-graduate Fulbright Scholarship to Boston University for the year 2002-2003. Under the supervision of Professor Parker Shipton at BU, she started researching American urban anthropology, which later became her passion. An enriching experience for her research on cities has been living in Lausanne, Switzerland and Amsterdam. She obtained a PhD from Charles University in Prague in 2013. Her dissertation and research focused on urban anthropology, multiculturalism, and expatriate culture. Ms. Stefankova has been teaching various courses on urban anthropology since 2011.
