CERGE-EI

"In a remarkably short period of time, CERGE-EI has become one of the most prominent places in Europe to study economics."

Orley Ashenfelter, Professor, Princeton University, Member of CERGE-EI Foundation Board of Directors

CERGE-EI is a joint workplace of Charles University in Prague and the Czech Academy of Sciences. It is one of the top-ranked research institutions for economics in Central Europe and ranks among the top 5% of economics institutions worldwide according to Research Papers in Economics (RePEc).

CERGE-EI faculty have graduated from some of the world’s top programs, including Princeton University, the University of Chicago and the London School of Economics. The teaching faculty of IEF also includes some of the leading industry practitioners in the Czech Republic, such as senior economists from the Czech National Bank and professionals from the country's largest financial companies.

IEF students will be enrolled at Charles University in Prague, the most prestigious university in the Czech Republic. Charles University was founded in 1348, which makes it the oldest university in Central Europe.

All IEF courses will be taught at Schebek Palace, a 19th century building in the very center of Prague, which houses CERGE-EI, UPCES and the IEF office. IEF uses the historic and well-preserved representation rooms of Schebek Palace that have been turned into comfortable classrooms with state-of-the-art equipment.
